Garopaba is a tourist beach privileged by its geography which combines the beauty of some of the most stunning beaches in Brazil - and the world - with the blooming exuberance of the Atlantic Forests. In the 1970s, Garopaba was "discovered" by the Hippies from Porto Alerge, attracted to the area by the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful beaches. The beaches are excellent and located a short distance surrounding the village. There are 13 beaches in Garopaba, including Gamboa, Garopaba, Siriu, Silveira, Ferrugem, Vigia, Barra, Ouvidor, Vermelha, Rosa, Luz, Guarda do Embau, and Ibiraquera.
