Beaches
Garopaba
is a tourist beach privileged by its geography which combines the
beauty of some of the most stunning beaches in Brazil - and the
world - with the blooming exuberance of the Atlantic Forests. Such
a blend, offers different charming scenarios, captivating everyone
who arrives in town. In the 1970s, Garopaba was "discovered" by
the Hippies from Porto Alerge, attracted to the area by the peaceful
atmosphere and beautiful beaches. The beaches are excellent and
located a short distance surrounding the village. There are 13 beaches
in Garopaba, including Gamboa, Garopaba, Siriu, Silveira, Ferrugem,
Vigia, Barra, Ouvidor, Vermelha, Rosa, Luz, Guarda do Embau, and
Ibiraquera.Surfing
Garopaba was elected the "Surf Capital", and mind you, that was
made by no mistake. During the 1980s, surfers from throughout Brazil
and beyond descended onto the village, which fast developed a reputation
for having some of the best surfing in the country. Garopaba is
home to some of the best waves in Brazil, including Silveira, Ferrugem,
and Rosa Beach. Because Garopaba is a peninsula it has many options
for wind swell direction and protection. In addition to Garopaba`s
superior location, rock and sand bottoms, the waves are quite constant
and regular, and it would be quite unusual to see a flat period
for any extended period of time. Motocross
As its name implies, motocross is a form of cross-country motorcycle
racing. Modern motocross involves a multitude of styles, and types
of racing, exhibitions and vehicles. The rugged terrain used for
matches is what influences the design of the bikes and distinguishes
them from other types of motorcycles. Motocross Cross is an increasingly
popular sport in Garopaba, with its secluded tracks, forest reservations,
in addition to motorcycle shops and mechanics are also located in
the area. Sand Boarding
Sand boarding is a recreational activity similar to snow boarding
that takes place on sand dunes rather than snow-covered hills. For
some, it involves riding across or down a dune while standing with
both feet strapped to a board, while others use a board with no
bindings. This board sport has adherents throughout the world, but
for obvious reasons tends to be most prevalent in desert areas,
or coastal areas with beach dunes. Garopaba is privileged with many
sand dunes in Siriú and Caranha, in between Ouvidor and Barra Beach,
where you will find sand boarders enjoying this activity as well
as sand boards can be rented. Call 48 3254 4839.Para Gliding

Every year between July and November the Right Whale visits the

After almost reaching extinction, whale hunting was officially forbidden.
In 1801 the "Armação" was closed and Garopaba turned to be a fishing
village once again, but the last whale was killed only in 1972.
Garopaba happens to be the perfect location to watch the Right Whale
